As most economists would say — it depends. It depends, because there are so many variables that are unique to both the vehicle and the driver being insured. It goes without saying that an exotic sports car is going to be much more expensive to insure than an economy vehicle or midsize SUV. So, even if you and your next-door neighbor bought identical cars on the same day, you will have unique underwriting characteristics specific to you that differ from your neighbor that are factored into your overall rate i.e., your age, your daily commute, the number of and age of household drivers, your prior loss history, your insurance score, your insurance history, the coverage options you select and so on. In many cases, yes; however, what is covered depends on many factors and there are still some key coverage gaps that auto policies do not cover (i.e., diminution in value, loss of renal income, etc.), which is why it’s recommended you purchase the LDW (loss damage waiver) offered by the rental car company.

Yes! There are many auto discounts for which you may qualify. Here a few of the typical discounts: multi-policy discount, multi-vehicle discount, good student discount, drivers training discount, defensive driving course discount, loss-free discount, paperless discount and paid-in-full discount. It depends. If you are moving within the same state, yes, your auto policy can follow you. However, if you are moving out-of-state, then no, you will need to purchase auto insurance for your new state of residency, as insurance coverages and rates very in each state.

Always contact us first, so we can best advise you on whether filing the claim makes sense or can adversely impact your future premiums and is best for you to self-insure the loss. Don’t make the mistake of filing a small claim, since all claims stay on your claims record for 5-years, which will impact your insurance premium for a 5-year period. Let our in-house claims advocates help guide you through this process.

It depends on the state you live in, as coverage varies from state-to-state. In some states, uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage only applies to bodily injuries you sustain; whereas, in other states, it may apply to both bodily injury and property damage. In most cases, yes. Each carrier is different, so while most carriers will cover flood damage to your auto, you need to carefully review your policy to see if it is excluded. Generally speaking, if you carry comprehensive coverage, then your car is covered for flood damage.

The amount of loss paid by the policyholder. A deductible is a specified dollar amount on your policy for both comprehensive and collision coverage. The larger the deductible, the lower the premium charged for the same coverage, since you are assuming a higher loss amount by taking a higher deductible. Insurance carriers only pay losses above the deductible amount, so if the loss incurred is not substantially above your deductible, it’s usually best to self-insure the loss (i.e., pay the loss yourself out-of-pocket) by not filing it with your insurance carrier.

I started a company in January 2019 & the team at Pepper Johnstone helped me from the beginning. We serve mid-cap to large public companies in Alabama, Colorado and Texas. And, Bryan has been critical in helping us meet and maintain the required commercial insurance policies and coverage levels. Key reasons that I've been so pleased primarily include their high level of technical competence and timely responsiveness on new or changing insurance coverage requests. They do a great job & I can highly recommend them.
